Rebeca & Toluwa’s Wedding at North Mymms Park, Hatfield
The weather in August has been kind to the wedding fraternity, and as I drive to meet R&T at the Church, and the sun is begging me to drop the soft top and don the shades.
As the guests begin to stream into the Church in Harringay, the Groom, all resplendent in cream, arrives to claim his Bride. Fashionably late (an hour), the Bride, beautiful in a pearl and bead encrusted dress, with a train of around 15ft and a veil to match, pours out of her wedding car. My carefully calibrated wedding schedule now in shreds, the Bride makes her way up the aisle to meet her soon-to-be husband.
The drive to North Mymms Park was punctuated by a call from the Hubster. The Leke Levite band and DJ Neptizzle are having speaker issues, which I promise to resolve by the time I arrive in the next half hour. I proceed to park up and visit the Pavilion. Thankfully, the speaker problem has been resolved with the DJ and Band compromising.
North Mymms Park is buzzing with teams of suppliers setting up their wares in the Pavilion. Platinum Ace Events have fitted the floor and stage; Lottie Louise Design have set up the flower hoop, neon sign and laid the tablescapes; The Floral Décor have created a beautiful kaleidoscope of flowers on the Sweetheart table; Cake Boulevard have built a wonderful tower of marble wedding cake; the guys from Elevate Events are setting up the magazine photobooth; Ravissant Cocktails are at the Loggia on the South Lawn, concocting their potent cocktails; Dhoney Desserts are prepping the waffles and ice cream for dessert; and of course the heavenly smells emanating from the kitchens is the work of Taste Haven.
There is so much to do and before I know it, the newly-weds have arrived with a gaggle of photographers, videographers and drones following. Noble Ossai and Fire & Ice have been charged with capturing the beautiful couple’s big day.
Their speedy arrival from the Church has meant that my recently ripped up wedding schedule can be rescued.
Taste Haven are on it and are preparing to serve at 6:30pm, just 30 minutes later than planned. MC David Agyemang welcomes the Bride’s Brazilian family to open the wedding reception with their dance to their seats; the Groom’s family, unified in purple, follow.
The big entrance is reserved for R&T, and the very joyful couple dance into the Pavilion to roars of approval from family and friends. After drenching the Bride in American dollars, the couple take their seats on the stage.
With family and friends tucking into their African and Caribbean dinner, the Hubster and take a well needed seat in the garden with our fellow suppliers. It’s been a very busy day but the newly-weds look happy and their guests are having a fabulous time. As the party reaches its peak, it’s time for us to pack up and make our exit.
We wish Rebeca & Toluwa a beautiful life together, wherever that journey starts. We’ve had a ball and thank you for letting us help host the biggest day of your lives.
