Uloma & Nnamdi's Wedding Day
The lead up to Uloma & Nnamdi’s wedding was a real roller coaster; so many elements yet to be confirmed and whilst I was in meltdown, Uloma proved to be the coolest and calmest bride I’ve ever met. After a three-line whip of a meeting, I can honestly say I wasn’t convinced that I had all the information needed to smoothly run a wedding, but I do love a challenge.
The morning of the wedding the weather report was coming in fabulous; bright and sunny by the afternoon, with temperatures bordering on ‘roof down’, I knew it was going to be a wonderful setting for a cricket club wedding. The Wedding Society team, Ben, Tia and Georgia arrived early to start setting up. The Bride’s family were bringing in assorted material for the décor. The hexagon hoop, which would be the backdrop for the Sweetheart table, was being built by the Bride’s brother, Israel, who dropped it off in the morning.
After we discovered the name cards were not set up according to each table, Tia and Georgia spent over an hour sorting through 190 name cards with only the A2 sized Table Plan on an easel, as a guide. Afia of Afmena Events, whose blooms were to dress the hoop and tables, arrived and was surprised to see the hoop still in its box. Fortunately, I had some tools in my emergency kit and Ben, who’s handy with a screwdriver, built the hoop for her.
It was now time to drive over to the Church with Georgia. It was a beautiful drive in the sun, with the roof down, over to Finchley for the wedding ceremony. With the Church filling up fast with family and friends, my Bride was shockingly early, looking incredibly calm. With the Vicar giving the photographer, Nicole Omotayo, instructions on where not to tread, the ceremony started.
On the return to the cricket club, with the roof down on the car, my cruising tunes were rudely interrupted by the continuous beeping of the roof monitoring system. This lasted until we arrived back at the wedding reception, where the soft top finally corrected itself.

The Platinum Ace Events team had set up the dancefloor; Jemma of Jemz Cake Box had dropped off a beautiful cake with cascading flowers; Taste Haven were prepping the canapes and overseeing the drinks for the cocktail hour; my team had ensured that the wedding reception was ready for the First Look. DJ Raphael and MC Remi were in the house and checking the Wedding Schedule for their cues. The Blue Lion Band had arrived and were setting up ahead of the Grand Entrance.
Then it was time to get the guests seated. The families of the Bride and Groom were due to make their entrance first, with the newlyweds lined up for a big welcome. Full of colour and warmth, their entrance was excellent, and the new Mr & Mrs Ibeanu were honoured by their families, friends and colleagues. Tired and ready to put our feet up, the TWS team said our goodbyes and wished the newlyweds a wonderful life together.
