Mica & Craig’s Wedding: Hackney Town Hall and Bistrotheque
With another sun-filled day ahead, I packed my emergency kit into the car for the into Hackney for the nuptials of M&C. The Bride has been planning a club style wedding party to follow the reception, with the best of her family and friends to savour every moment.
The North Atrium in Hackney Town Hall is a wonderful, modern space to hold a ceremony as it allows the couple to have the facility to hold their ceremony and in the case of M&C, have a drinks reception directly afterwards.
It’s fabulous to watch the Atrium fill up with the couple’s family and friends. Such a colourful fusion of the best of the Brits and Caribbean; Besties and sisters in their bridesmaid’s outfits of sage; the Bride’s nieces in flower girl white. The Groom and Best Man in cornflower blue suits trying to keep themselves busy to help their nerves.
And in the next moment we have the bridesmaid’s lining up for their processional walk. Even with a year of planning, it really is a moment to take in as the Bride realises “This Is It!”. With “Halo” by Beyonce being serenaded on a violin by Yohane-Liam Osafo, our beautiful Bride and her father make her last walk as a single woman.
After a flawless ceremony, the gorgeous newly weds lead the recessional walk down the aisle to Mendelsson’s “Wedding March”. Then the violinist and steel pan, Stephen Dapaah, join forces to play “Essence” by Wizkid. The guests retreat to the back of the Atrium for the Prosecco and canapes by Canababes.
After photos on the Town Hall steps, the guests are rounded up and escorted to Bistrotheque in Bethnal Green for the wedding reception. As the guests find their seats, there are wedding favours in boxes created by the Groom for each individual guest. The speeches, starters and dinner are served but it is the Maid of Honour, the Bride’s sister, who steals the show. How she managed to get her speech out between the tears and laughter, amongst her and the Bride I’ll never know.
With dinner and toasts over, the guests move downstairs for the Cuckatoo Party. With DJ Danny Greenaway, BrassRascals and CaptivateBooths to entertain, the couple cut their wedding cake, carefully curated by the Bride’s sister.
With the party kicking off I take my bow, and after rescuing my emergency kit, I head out into the beautiful warm evening for the drive north west. I have no doubt this Bride will have been giving it her best Beyonce on the dance floor; I think the Groom maybe a bit of a reluctant Jay-Z!
Wishing Mica & Craig a beautiful and fulfilling lifetime together x
